Hello, My name is Andrew Wiseman, I work for Apple’s Maps team. My team is interested in doing some work on the highway network in Sri Lanka on OSM -- sometimes we get suggestions from users about things that should be fixed, like street names, addresses, road network issues, points of interest and other related features. We also may make a few fixes to the road network, things like missing roads or roads that should be connected. We have a Github page here about the project: github.com/osmlab/appledata/issues/80 Please let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback. Thank you, Andrew Apple, Inc. ==================================== Above message was posted in TALK-LK forum. -Sadeepa

Hi all, I'm in touch with the team at Mapbox, who are in turn working with Microsoft to prioritize urban areas that need a 30cm Bing imagery update. Is there high priority urban areas in Sri Lanka that lack quality imagery? I can't promise we can make it happen but I want to try. Best, Robert I have made online request to MapBox about the Nikawaretiya area (Ajith already mentioned about it).

Hi Sadeepa,
Of course, I am going to map them too. Because Electric charging is a critical factor (For fuel driven motor vehicles, if we ran out all, we can call a Three Wheel Malli, find a can and bring from the nearest gas station). When marking, I used "fast charging" when I know without a doubt. Other points were left saying EV charging station without specifying. Currently there are 5 companies involved in the business (AFAIK), namely:-
1. Spark Electric. 2. Green Frontier. 3. Charge Net. 4. Wasana Traders. 5. LAUGFS Gas.
And 2 more companies are considering the feasibility, namely..
1. Arpico. 2. Mackwoods Energy PLC.
I hope to contact the marketing people of those companies to get full details soon.
By the way, If you all know a place, please mark that and append the my list. Ajith, I got this list for EV stations (most are slow chargers) affiliated to Wasana Traders. There are two stations listed in my home town. But none of them are now operational due to lack of business. So I do not know how reliable is these small stations. Click on following to download the list. List of Wasana Electric Vehicles Charging ....docx (25.84 KB)

Dear all,
I have already updated the following EV Charging Stations. please update the places you know.. (And don't forget to update the list...)
1. Borella (Fairfield Garden ) 2. Maradana (Trace Road Near Sarasavipaya) 3. Kollupitiya 4. Galle 1 (Near Mahamodara) 5. Galle 2 (Expressway access road) 6. Battaramulla (Udumulla Road) 7. Ratnapura (Hidellana) 8. Kurunegala (Pilessa) 9. Chillaw (Koswadiya, Mahawewa) 10. Karapitiya 11. Ekala (IOC Ja-Ela Gampaha road)
Ajith, As I heard there are many places which offers slow charging port (ie. Wall socket) for EV charging. Are we planing to map those points as well ?

Dear All, for your information, As we planned that we have started to collect the exposure information in Gampaha DS Division, that we use the openMapkit tool to collect the building information (using tab). Good to hear about progress. Just like to know about availability of this "open map kit" tool for rest of the OSM community. Please post a link if it can be downloaded. Thanks

Checked on Navitel, no support yet for charging station yet. Thilina, can you try to trace down MP format type number for "FUELEL" on GEoNet. It should be in or around resource.xml file. (Ex 0x2F01 for Fuel, 0x2F08 for Gas fuel [CNG]) for geonet MP code is 0x2FA1 . i found inside Lng pack and resource file. if we add to converter it shows . but without icon . but it show with icon in if try to save user poi and search for type but all fuel types shows as gas . (this my windows phone screen shot ) Same POI types in GeoNet iOS too. I will try to see what happens with 0x2FA1 on Navitel. Needs some time....

Since amenity=charging_station is still on proposal, I think charging stations should be marked with following tags amenity=fuel fuel:electricity=yes [ set any other fuels as appropriate ex. fuel:diesel=no ] I also thought of marking the charging points in your way but it does not serve the intended purpose since the electric vehicle owners still cannot search for charging stations by the type of fuel. wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:fuel:electricityAjith, There seems no Type code defined for "Charging_station" therefore all publicly available OSM to MP converters discard these POIs. So these will not even show up on converted Garmin, GeoNet, Navitel, 7Ways maps and no one will be able to find them. I can define a custom type and do the conversion on my converter but it want help in large scale. If you mark them as above at least those POIs will be there on converted maps. So I suggest to facilitate finding them more efficiently to add name tag with "EV-" prefix. For ex. amenity=fuel fuel:electricity=yes name=EV-Spark ElectricSo what people who want to find charging stations have to do is : Select type "Fuel" and Enter "EV-" in the name box before search. We may educate how to do this search through forums and discussion groups. While searching for information I have seen some companies offering EV carging stations as a separate GDI file for Garmin devices (not in Sri Lanka). But I think this approach is too cumbersome for us.

There is no type defined for charging stations in Geonet/CG. Will check Navitel soon. once Ajith ask this question i extract the resources file in Geonet . in there i saw charge point icon . that's why i say Geonet may support. resources contain in LangPack.rsr . you can open this file using 7zip or winrar . inside any poi folder you can see this icon with name "FUELEL". but i didn't see it in map Checked on Navitel, no support yet for charging station yet. Thilina, can you try to trace down MP format type number for "FUELEL" on GEoNet. It should be in or around resource.xml file. (Ex 0x2F01 for Fuel, 0x2F08 for Gas fuel [CNG])

Dear All,If the satellite imagery are blurry, cloudy or insufficient in an area where you are updating, you can request fresh images from MapBox site from the given link. please kindly make requests if you encounter a such area. I think more the number of requests we make more attention we get. (There is no need for a registration or like formality:) .)
Currently I have found a large patch near Nikaweratiya, Giriulla area and made a one request.
When you open the particular page:-
1. Zoom using the +/- symbols at top right corner. 2. Pan using the arrow keys only. 3. Only rectangular areas can be marked using left mouse button clicking diagonally on 2 positions. Thanks Ajith, I have made a request for the same area too. Lets see what happens.

And checked POI types in its search dialog. Then I tried to mark it as a user POI and tried to set type as charging point but there is no such type there. Nothing was there. May be they are planing to support.
