National Security and public safety should not be compromised by free and open nature of open street maps. Therefore my recommendation for all OSM Sri Lanka mappers.
1. Should not mark any details of Security forces bases/camps/training fields - marked generally as restricted area, no any internal details, Police stations are ok to map. 2. Should not mark details of VVIP residencies as easily identifiable way- Government/Public offices are ok to mark. 3. Should not mark details of Power stations, Fuel Dumps, refineries and any critical infrastructure ( HV lines, major power grid stations etc..) - should generally mark as industrial area. 4. Should not mark details of Airports/ports used exclusively by security forces. (if used by both CIVIL and MILLITARY - avoid mapping adding military details) 5. Geodetic points (Major designated points used for precision surveying) - if not public information - should not be mapped
Being over enthusiastic, I myself have done above mistakes and I am in the process of taking down them. Please pay attention to above list and feel free to comment too.
