විශාල නගර, නගර, උප නගර, ගම් හා ස්ථාන ලකුනු කිරීමේ යම් පිලිගත් ක්රමවේදයක් තිබෙනවාද?
උදා : place=city , place=town , place=village
අනිත් විදිය තමයි area එකක් විදියට අදින එක . අපි නගරයේ හෝ ගමේ මායිම් දන්නව නම් ඒක area එකක් විදියට ලකුනුකරලා boundary=administrative කියන ටැග් එක දාන්න. එතකොට අපි ඇදපු polygon එක කඩ ඉරි වලින් පෙන්නාවි.
ඔය කියන හැටියට මෙහෙම හරියන්නේ නෑ නේද? |

When traveling in an unknown area with GPS map assistance, I've noticed that the names of the by-roads we passerby are not appeared in the device, eventhough they are properly marked in OSM map. Normally this happens as the device always tries to zoom-in the area we travel in and the name portions of the by-roads are far away from the zoomed-in screen. Since this deficency lets down the traveller's confidance, I tried the following solution.
When you notice a by-road with a name, cut that road at a node positioned 100m distance to the main road with SCISSORS tool (in either ID or pottatch editor). BUT NEVER NEVER detach. This helps showing the by-roads with names nicely in device sceen. I tested this with Garmin and 7-Ways. Objections or suggestions please.....

Nice finding, I will do it when I am marking, Earlyer I used to do the opposit as it's easier to keep tags consistent along entire road. That time not many users to delete data  |

GPS වලටම හදාපු උපකරණයක් හරි GPS තියෙන phone එකක් හරි තියෙන්න ඕනෑ. ඔයාට තියෙන්නෙ ඒවයින් මොකක්ද?

Then get installed "7Ways" app from play store. After that get the Sri Lanka Map from the list. Then you are ready to navigate. Once you complete a tour with the GPS on, normally a .gpx file is created in the 7Ways/userdata/folder in the phone. You can use that file to draw ways where satellite image is not clear. |

Thanks Thilina. I tried the app you mentioned and the Openmap kit as well. I feel the OSM tracker is a very simple and straightforward while openmap kit not easy to use.
