Hi all,
HOT has had a request from the Disaster Management Centre to activate for the ongoing floods. The specific request is to map households in a defined flooding area so that the DMC can do an accurate estimate of how many households were affected and where.
I've started the background work of setting up an activation. You can see a lot of my thoughts here:

You'll see that I mention the Sri Lankan OSM community there. Obviously it's a small but talented community. Are any of you interested in assisting with the activation? These activations usually benefit greatly from local expertise identifying objects from satellites, translating names and generally telling us what the priorities of the local OSM community and affected persons are.
I am not proposing any of you all lead the activation because it takes a bit of knowledge about how HOT and the humanitarian system works. In truth activation leading is more person management and less fun mapping so you're not missing out...
I hope you all are surviving the floods well and staying safe. I'm thinking of everyone from Nepal!
Best, Robert
